Photo Reference
I have a realistic style and as a result I absolutely LOVE clear photos as reference. If you're not confident of capturing sharp, close-up photos then I offer a free photography service to north east England customers - just ask. Alternatively, ask me to send you my easy-to-follow pet photography guide.

Production and Delivery
I use exquisite Saunders Waterford, cold pressed, 140lb watercolour paper, and finest Winsor & Newton Professional watercolour pigments. Portraits take up to 7 days to complete and the high end materials ensure permanence. I can email you progress photos if required. Local customers can collect or I can post in a rigid poster tube by recorded mail as I do to more distant locations, including Europe and the US. Delivery is a small extra cost.
Occasionally I produce prints of commissions but you will always have the special original.
about
From a young age I was passionate about drawing and later, at art college, I specialised in Fine Art. After doing a BA Hons in Design and Architectural History I ultimately took the graphic design route, working for 22 years as a graphic designer.
The work of American watercolour artist Stan Miller rekindled my interest in painting, especially portrait painting. Despite being a pet portrait specialist I occasionally paint wildlife, landscapes and even buildings such as a churches.

I see each portrait as a journey with an exciting conclusion and wonderful feedback.
